Full publication schedule will resume Monday Sept 16. I am in the middle of unpacking after moving to a new rental home.
Dear Readers:
Hopefully, you have noticed that I have greatly increased the frequency and consistency of my published articles. It is my intention to publish every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at a minimum. The idea is that Mon and Wed will be original articles and Fridays will be crossposts from other substack writers who cover issues directly or indirectly related to SoCal Water Wars standard issues.
Finally, I have figured out how to juggle everything around in my life so that I actually have time to research and write much more consistently than in the past and to build on the research and rough-drafts already completed.
I won’t go into how I figured that out now but it might be an interesting story for other writers who have lots to write about but wonder how to find the time.
We, meaning me and members of my wonderful family, just moved into a new rental home in one of the most environmentally hot spots on the continent—or at least in the State of California—adding to my ability to come up with more interesting story ideas, which are already in progress.
This week, however, we must finish unpacking so that we have room to move around in. That means that even stories that were already pretty much finished but need fine tuning have to be put on hold until Monday, Sept 16. Right now, there are boxes both full and empty all over the house with three cats making good use of them for fun hiding places, on top of bookshelves, inside cabinets and boxes, etc.
When our medium small mixed-breed shepherd dog isn’t running all over the place looking for cattle to herd she’s either resting on someone’s bed or the living room’s softest and most comfortable reclining chair.
And then there’s the grandkids, 6 and 10, getting ready for school after being awakened on time by the dog and maneuvering around the boxes on their way out the door.
Where are the plates, cups and silverware. And where are my books, bed pillows, and bathroom items? Who knows, it will probably show up soon.
On top of that, the other day, somehow, I accidentally deleted almost all of my most important work files. That really freaked me out because the files were on several different backup disks, including one that I use not for backup but instead of the regular C drive which is almost full. Luckily, I was able to restore them. But I am copying every single one of those files up to a google cloud and that will take several days to complete. I’m almost afraid to touch anything until then.
See you all Monday.
Sincerely,
John Earl
