Sweetwater Authority director runs for Chula Vista City Council, District 2
Jose Preciado talks about crime, homelessness, and future rate hikes from SDCWA despite increased conservation and reliance on local water supplies
Recently, I ran into Jose Preciado, who currently represents Division 3 of the Sweetwater Authority/South Bay Irrigation District which provides drinking water for National City, Chula Vista, and Bonita. He is also a Chula Vista City Council candidate (District 2) to replace outgoing Councilmember Jill Galvez who ran unsuccessfully for mayor.
In this brief interview that took place Sept. 18 at Friendship Park, Preciado talks about homelessness, crime, and forecasted water-rate increases by Sweetwater’s imported water supplier, the San Diego County Water Authority.
The rest of the interview, including the continued discussion of water rates, took place a few days later by phone. I will begin reporting on that in-depth this week.
